Apt Holman preamp test in Audio Science Review

ASR is testing vintage gear from time to time. Latest thread is very nice. Test of a refurbished Apt Holman preamp is provided. Both phono and line inputs were tested... and they measured jolly good. This is great because it shows that well designed and well made preamps from the classic hi-fi era still hold their own. In this age of many revolutions in audio, it is essential to know where it still makes sense to look for vintage gear and where it does not, at least from a technical performance point of view. In this particular thread comments are also interesting with circuit diagram and info about the designer's subsequent career. ASR founder Amir Majidimehr and ASR community members are clearly providing a good service to the audiophile community. Abstracting from the very boring and often pointless objective/subjective debate, this forum is emerging as a good source for all those interested in hi-fi. And Apt is a brand to watch on the second-hand market, capable of withstanding the test of time, as it proves. Paul Miller is also testing vintage gear on Hi-Fi News, with very interesting results. More on this in future posts. See test and comments here. I recommend you check it out, it's really interesting stuff.
